The Priests of the Sacred Heart will be very busy the week of July 16-22, 2023. There are two significant reasons for this extra activity.
First, the SCJs will be celebrating 100 years of ministry in the USA on Sunday the 16th and Monday the 17th at Sacred Heart Monastery. The five missionaries from the German Province began their efforts in Lower Brule, SD, on the banks of the Missouri River in 1923. This was followed on the Cheyenne River Lakota reservation in 1925, at St. Joseph’s Indian School in Chamberlain in 1927, and then here in Franklin at the old Sacred Heart Monastery in 1929. The SCJs are honored to have been part of your lives and history during these many years.
The second event is the XVII Provincial Chapter which begins on Tuesday. More than 40 members of the SCJ Province will be gathering for the week to converse about our present and future directions and endeavors.
